We are in the process of filtering applications. This year has been exceptionally competitive: the most updated statistic is that students from 91 majors applied representing 58 universities applied. The Organising Committee is very impressed!
Due to high volume of candidates, please note that we will announce the reults next week on Tuesday 3 April. This is to allow sufficient time to each team application and provide feedback if you do not make it to the next round.

Launching 1st February, Europe-Korea BPC is a business competition focused on technology and innovation.
Open to students in Korea (targeting engineering/business majors), the competition aims to connect Korea’s top talent with Europe’s leading companies.
Presented by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea, the nationwide annual Europe-Korea Business Plan Competition lasts for 5 months under the main theme of "believe innovation".
The initiative challenges engineering and business students in Korea to think about the future and how to impact on it by developing a technology or using an existing one in an innovative way. Contenders form multidisciplinary teams and develop an idea in a competition track: Web/IT, Mobile, Transportation, Energy & Infrastructure or New Products & Services. European company C-level executives are the competition judges and mentors. Mentors support finalist teams to refine their business plans and bring real-world expertise.
The initiative looks to foment skills such as entrepreneurship, creativity, teamwork and prepare participants for a real-world professional environment. In 2011, students from 38 universities fiercely competed for the Grand Prize.

Ideas that redefine mobility in communication, productivity and leisure, using handsets and tablets as the main delivery method. From network infrastructure and mobile components to new location-based services, real-time crowdsourcing or new applications for smartphone sensors.
Think about IT technologies and e-businesses that enhance our daily lives. Consider internet TV, data security, innovative online advertising, publishing platforms, search optimisation or a revolutionary approach to social networks.
Redefine the transportation technology of the future, both in vehicles and infrastructure. Consider efficiency, safety or comfort improvements, intelligent transportation systems, electric powertrains, new materials or airports of the future.
Technologies that enhance energy management and water solutions. Innovative smart buildings/cities, battery improvements, municipal infrastructure, waste management processes or insulation materials… the possibilities are endless.
Innovative products or business ideas that serve different B2B and B2C needs. The spectrum is broad: Industrial automation, healthcare delivery and medical devices, cosmetics, retail, food processing and anything else you can imagine!
The package is composed of 2 main elements: 1. A solar powered compactor bin which compacts waste up to 80%. 2. A smart IT solution to inform managers of the optimal timing and route for waste collection. This solution will reduce the frequency of collections and CO2 emission up to 70%, resulting in huge cost-savings in operational cost. With these cost-savings, it guarantees pay back in less than 1.5 years.

G&I flexible femur technology can solve leg discrepancy issues and reduce not only the risk of corrective surgery, but also the incidence of post-operatic dislocations and mechanical loosening. In addition, in the case of leg length discrepancy, the procedure would be simplified as surgeons would not need to remove the implant and place another, instead just wind the added screw to modify the length.
When ordering at a restaurant, the customer can choose to omit ingredients or reduce the portion but pay the original price. The money saved will be returned to the customer as cash-mileage minus a small percentage sent to Foodflowing and the collaborating restaurant. Customers can review their cash mileage via the website or smartphone application. Foodflowing provides consumers to directly participate in saving the environment and create awareness.

Leading European C-level executives will be the judges of the Europe Korea BPC 2011. The teams will be ranked based on which business the judges would most likely invest in.
Dr. Daeje Chin is the founder/President/CEO of SkyLake Incuvest Co., a private equity investment firm in Korea focusing on the growth stage or buyouts in technology industry. Dr. Chin had served as the Minister of MIC (Ministry of Information and Communication) of Korea from 2003 to 2006, and former CEO & President of Samsung Electronics until he joined the government in 2003.
Dr. Daeje Chin received his BS from Seoul National University, MS from the University of Massachusetts, and Ph.D from Stanford University all in Electrical Engineering.
Dr. Chin enjoys golf and travelling.
Hermann Kaess joined Robert Bosch GmbH in 1989, and has had experience in various divisions. Before becoming President/CEO of Robert Bosch Korea Ltd, he was Executive Vice President/ Managing Director at Robert Bosch Ltd/ in the United Kingdom for 6 years.
He holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Munich, Germany.
In his free time Hermann likes to run, play golf and is very much interested in history and politics.
Olivier Mouroux has an extensive professional experience in online marketing in Asia.
Olivier is the co-founder of Asiance, a Digital Marketing Agency based in Asia. He has spent the last 12 years in Asia with a 2 years experience in China and 10 years experience in Korea.
Pierre is the Head of EADS Innovation Works, the Corporate Research Center of EADS, in North Asia. His mission is to identify new technologies and allocate potential sources of funding to projects of interest for EADS companies (Airbus, Eurocopter, Astrium and Cassidian).
Pierre holds a Ph.D. degree from Supaero in Toulouse, France and a post-doctorate from Tsinghua University, China
In his spare time, Pierre likes aircraft modeling, mountain fishing, and cooking.
Olli Andersson has extensive expertise and over 12 years of experience in developing new business, driving new technology and solution development in communications industry. He has been working at Nokia and NSN in multiple functions and roles incl. R&D, solution management, business development, strategy and corporate development. Prior heading the Smart Lab in Korea, he was responsible of NSN early innovation and business portfolio as well as execution of company-wide strategic projects.
Olli has engineering degree (B. Eng) and an MBA from the Helsinki University of Technology Executive School of Business. Olli is married and has two daughters.
Michael Vetter currently President of the Official Porsche Importer in Korea, Stuttgart Sports Cars Ltd since 2005. Prior to his tenure in Korea Mr. Vetter was Regional Manager of Sales and Dealer Network Development at Porsche Asia Pacific from 2001 to 2005 as well as Sales and Marketing Manager at Porsche AG (Germany).
Michael Vetter holds a degree in Business Administration & Marketing from the University of Applied Sciences in Gießen/Germany in 1997.
Michael enjoys cycling and listening to music.
John Stromblad (Swedish) is CEO of Tetra Pak Korea, the world’s leading food processing and packaging solutions company. John has been with Tetra Pak for almost 30 years since he joined the company in 1986. Prior to joining Tetra Pak Korea, he led ‘Information Systems Platform Project’ at Tetra Pak Asia Pte Ltd. in Singapore for three years.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business from Stockholm School of Economics and speaks five different languages (Swedish, English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese).
Mr. Friedrich Stockinger, born in 1959, began after his graduate studies at the University of Karlsruhe Fridericiana his professional career at the TRUMPF Group in 1988.
In March 1998 he took over the management of TRUMPF Korea Co., Ltd. in Seoul. For his outstanding commitment to the German-Korean economic relationship he received an honorary citizen of Seoul in May 2006.
Since 2003 he has been a board member of the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI) in 2011 and was elected as President of the KGCCI.
Thomas Geyer (Germany nationality) is Representative Director of Vector Korea, a subsidiary of Vector Informatik, Stuttgart Germany a provider of solutions and services for automotive electronics development. Prior to this assignment Thomas Geyer worked for various other IT companies in Germany in various positions.
Thomas Geyer holds a master degree in IT science and business administration from Friedrich Alexander University in Erlangen, Germany.
Personal interests include sports, music and business development in Asia.
Stefan (German National) is the Power Products Division Manager in ABB Korea. Before joining, Stefan held several Management positions in Germany and China in ABB Group. His work experience is stretching from Production over Engineering, Project Management, SCM, Sales to General Management.
He holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from RWTH Aachen/Germany and a MBA of CEIBS Shanghai/China.
Sailing has been favorite pastime since his childhood. Stefan is a dedicated Yachtsman. He also likes to travel and has visited more than 30 countries. In his free time he practices some common sports like biking and swimming.
Originated from France, Frederic is managing the Korean entity of Veolia Solutions & Technologies, a company of Veolia Environment specialized in the design and the erection of water treatment facilities and associated services. Prior to Veolia, Frederic has experience in the electronics and automotive industries, in Europe and in Asia.
He holds an engineering degree in micro-electronics.
Whenever possible, he enjoys practicing mountain and water sports, travelling or discovering culinary delicacies and nice wines.
Mentors support finalist teams to refine their business plans and bring real-world entrepreneurial expertise. Mentoring sessions will be held at the company offices, Seoul, between ---.
Dr. Kang-Suk Lee is a founding member of Skylake Incuvest which is the top high tech PEF in Korea, KS Lee reviews many investment cases in telecom media technology and renewable energy technologies. He serves as a BOD member of many Skylake portfolios to strengthen the competitiveness of the companies.
He holds a Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania with the “Optical Implementation of Neural Networks with Application to Human Visual System”. He graduated KAIST with MS degree in EE in 1979 and SNU with BS degree in EE in 1977.
In his spare time, KS enjoys travelling with his family and loves to visit museums.
JongSig Park is leading Front End Sales in ABB Korea. Front End Sales is covering key Korean customers from start to finish as specialized and unique organization in ABB. He has managed Substation Automation Group in ABB Canada and was a head of Business Unit Substation in ABB Korea.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He loves music and mountain climbing in his spare time.
Min is Regional Director at Robert Bosch Korea for the Automotive Aftermarket and participates as the mentor of the Europe Korea Business Plan Competition at EUCCK since 2011.
He studied Business Administration in University Augburg Germany. Before joining Bosch he worked in the IT industry and strategic consulting company.
Loves to work with the young people and interested in new technologies.
Philip is a British national and has spent the last 10 years working in Asia, living in Shanghai, Taipei, Hong Kong and currently in Seoul. Apart from being the General Manager for EF Korea, he is also involved in business development and staff training projects in the Asia region.
Philip was educated in the UK, graduating from the University of Sussex in Brighton with an honors degree in English Literature. He has also studied in France and the USA.
In his spare time, Philip loves to explore new places and meet new people, with a special emphasis on food, wine, music and scuba diving.

Moon is Head of APAC, Liquid Net Value Creation at NSN. Formally working for a national research institute (ETRI) & three IT ventures, he is truly in love with forming solutions that are more attractive in the immediate future. He is also the winner of ‘Deloitte Top Technology Talent Competition’ in 2010.
He holds a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) from University of Science & Technology (UST) and a Bachelor degree in Information Technology & Management (ITM) from Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT).
While making a living out of digitals, he wishes to have the life in analog – reading/writing on papers!
Miriam (Korean) is Finance director at Tetra Pak Korea and has worked in Tetra Pak Korea over 20 years. She held various Finance & administration positions with Li & Fung, a Hong Kong based Trading company, and with Academy Trading company, before joining Tetra Pak.
She holds a MBA degree from Sogang University.She is very happy to work in Tetra Pak and she tries to spend time with family as far as possible. She loves to play golf with friends but score is very bad.
The organising committee supports the smooth operation of the competition. In addition, the committee receives and filters the team applications.
Marina (English, Spanish nationality) is Director at The European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea and organiser of the Europe Korea Business Plan Competition. Prior to EUCCK, Marina has experience in international relations/marketing (USA) and advertising (Spain).
She holds a Masters degree in Advertising & Public Relations from Madrid Complutense University and a post-graduate in International Marketing from Boston University.
In her spare time, Marina loves travelling, photography, cooking and dancing flamenco.

Jae Won is the Head of Korea at Nokia Siemens Networks. In this role, he is responsible for all sales, marketing, strategic business and operations in the country. He leads the Korea country management team, and is the primary spokesperson for Nokia Siemens Networks Korea.
Prior to his current appointment at Nokia Siemens Networks, Jae was a Director at the private equity investement firm, SkyLake Incuvest, where he was responsible for the investment and incubation of promising telecom and Internet technology companies.
Jae holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Australia’s Monash University. Jae is based in Korea with his family.
Olivier Mouroux has an extensive professional experience in online marketing in Asia.
Olivier is the co-founder of Asiance, a Digital Marketing Agency based in Asia. He has spent the last 12 years in Asia with a 2 years experience in China and 10 years experience in Korea.
Mr. Heetak Ha is currently Director of Sales planning and marketing at Robert Bosch Korea Ltd.
He majored in Economics from Seoul National University.
In his spare time, Heetak enjoys history, photography and cycling.

Mr. Migues (Uruguayan national) was inaugurated as the CEO of VW Korea on August 1st 2011, having been previously responsible for the operation & management of projects in Shanghai and in the Central region of VW China during 9 years. Prior to this, since 1998 he has gained extensive experience in water engineering in Uruguay, with VW in France and Puerto Rico.
He majored in Hydraulic & Water Treatment in University of Republic Montevideo Uruguay, and speaks Spanish, French and English fluently.
